Who We Are

Past Postdoctoral Researchers

Dr. Ayodeji Osiname is a Mitacs-funded Post-Doctoral Fellow hosted jointly by BU CARES and Westman Immigrant Services for a 2-year postdoc position from 2022 - 2024. He came to Manitoba as an International student in 2013. Since coming to Canada, he has worked with a number of different groups as a caregiver and server – foster care in a system that is overpopulated with Indigenous youth, serving at a senior home, and doing respite care for families with children who are limited by different abilities. His work has amplified his intentions of supporting communities that are marginalized within Canadian society. His doctoral dissertation focused on the experiences of newcomer families as they settled in and developed an understanding of “home” within Canadian society and within the Canadian school system. This postdoc position will help him to move from that study to studies within the broader community and will give him experience in building community programs and groups that will be self-sufficient and will provide ongoing support for immigrant families.
